Spring 2026 final exam room requests

Any in-person or blended class that is having an in-person final exam must fill out a Final Exam Request form to request a classroom to hold the final exam (an instructor or departmental scheduler can fill out the form). Please remind instructors that this deadline is fast approaching and that the requests for a classroom should be in by April 3, 2026.

The list of scheduled final exams and common exams is available on the Spring 2026 Final Exam and Common Exam Scheduled Rooms spreadsheet.

Additional final exam information:

May/Summer 2026 updates

Please contact ocmsched@umn.edu about May/summer classes if:

  • A class does not have a room assignment and needs one.
  • A variable credit class needs to have a set number of credits for summer 2026.
  • A class with enrollment needs to be canceled.

Fall 2026 (1269) scheduling in progress

CCS is currently closed for fall 2026 so that classroom assignments can be made by OCM. CCS will re-open on March 27, 2026 for emergent changes before registration begins on April 9, 2026.

25Live is available during this time for departmental classroom assignments. Please continue to assign departmentally owned rooms to academic classes that will take place in those spaces by March 9, 2026. This will give OCM a better understanding of the actual need for OCM-owned general purpose classrooms.

From March 12–26, OCM will be assigning GPC classrooms in mass quantities. We ask that our departmental schedulers refrain from logging in to assign departmental classrooms to academic classes in 25Live during that time.

Tip: Deleting combined sections

This time of year, we see many class updates, including cancellations. Remember, if you cancel a class that is combined with other classes, the date, time, and instructor information will be deleted on all of the class sections in the combination. To avoid this, uncombine the class first, then cancel the class. Follow this guide to delete a combined section class from a combination before you cancel a combined section class.

Trick: Multiple reserve capacities

Reserve capacities on classes allow you to hold a certain amount of seats for a certain subset of students. Sometimes classes will have multiple reserve capacities listed per class. The trick with adding multiple reserve caps is that you cannot have two reserve capacities on the same row. The system allows you to do this, but you should not.

You have to use the top plus/minus button on the tab, then add the new reserve cap information on the next row (the reserve capacity sequence will advance by one).

Here are examples:

Correct setup:
Reserve capacity page with "Reserve Capacity Sequence" option and plus and minus buttons on top of page highlighted

Incorrect setup:
Reserve capacity page view with the plus and minus buttons on the right-hand side of two rows with different reserve capacities

If you do not set them up correctly, the system doesn't know which reserve cap to pay attention to, and it will not honor either, meaning the seats you were holding for that subset of students are not working and are being bypassed altogether.

We have a query to find this issue when it happens. However, the additional unfortunate aspect of multiple reserve caps on a single row is that once students start to enroll in the class, we cannot fix or delete the setup if done incorrectly, so having these set up before registration begins is best practice.

CCS user workshops

The Scheduling team provides monthly CCS user workshops in which we connect with the departmental schedulers and review relevant topics. These workshops are held over Zoom on the second Tuesday of the month from 11:00–11:30 a.m. (15–20 minute presentation with time for discussion).
To attend a workshop, simply add the class schedule production calendar to your Google Calendar:
A Zoom meeting link and materials will be added to the calendar event closer to the day of the workshop.

Upcoming topics
  • March 10 - Waitlists
  • April 14 - CCS: The basics
If there is an upcoming topic you would like to discuss, please feel free to send your questions/concerns to ocmsched@umn.edu. Also, if there is a topic you would like to discuss in future workshops, please let us know.
